How Our TRT Ratings Differ From Affiliate Rankings

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Search for "best online TRT" and you'll find dozens of ranked lists. Many are written by sites that get paid when you click through and sign up. That doesn't make every list wrong, but it's a reason to ask how a ranking was built and who benefits from it. Here is how ours works, and where it falls short.

Independent comparison. We earn no commission from any provider listed. How we're funded · How we score providers

Why rankings disagree

When we scanned search results for "best online TRT clinics" in October 2026, the lists we found named different providers as number one, and several gave scores or star ratings with no method behind them. Rankings that disagree this much usually reflect different incentives, not different evidence.

Not every publisher works this way. Large health publishers such as Forbes Health publish a methodology and disclose that they earn commissions. Forbes Health's affordable-TRT ranking, for example, weights price at 45%, patient experience at 19%, and user testing at 14%. That is a legitimate choice for a price-focused list, and it's a different question from ours.

Where our ratings fall short

Five questions to ask of any ranking

  1. Does it explain how the score is calculated, with numbers you could check?
  2. Does it say how the site makes money, and does the ranking order match who pays?
  3. Are the same criteria applied to every provider, or only the ones in the list?
  4. Does it show downsides, such as complaints, fees, and regulatory actions, for its top picks?
  5. Is there a date, and are prices and states recent?
